MEXICO: San Miguel de Allende

Posted by on Aug 18, 2020 in Uncategorized | 4 Comments

Ready for a change of scenery, I left the bland, grey city of San Jose, Costa Rica, and braved two planes, two airports, four taxis, and a Houston hotel before arriving at my new destination. Filled with color and character San Miguel immediately filled me with a sense of relief that I had made a good decision about where I would be spending my next six months.

The flight to Mexico was on time and it was half-empty, a nice change from the overstuffed flight into Houston. If you ever happen to be flying into Leon and need a taxi to San Miguel de Allende, make sure to pay in pesos (1310 pesos = $60). If you pay in dollars, they will charge you $75. Equipped with a face-shield and an N-95 mask, I felt confident that I would make it to my destination COVID-Free.

    Hey Yanni,
Thanks. A lot of people here like to wear their masks with their noses sticking out.

    Hey John,

Just been catching up on the blog. Mexico looks good, despite the pandemic and same issue we have of people wearing facemasks incorrectly……
    How are you doing ?
    Sending you our best wishes,
    Sarah & Corey

    Hello Drovers,
Long time no speak. The blog is a bit Spartan as of late, but at long last, I’ll be whipping it into shape with the help of a tech guy to help improve the appearance as well as the ease of navigation. I’m enjoying feathering my nest here in San Miguel and taking advantage of a break from running around all over creation. I’m renewing my Visa for another six months since now is not the time for nomadic endeavors.

After I get vaccinated, I’ll probably take a quick trip to visit the grandkids and then head back to Mexico. In August, it will be time for a little foray to Europe and the UK. I’ll probably hang out in Salisbury for a bit, but a foray to the north is not out of the question. A non-Beatle Week trip to Liverpool might be nice to cleanse me of that prior indignity. I could also do with another Ronnie Scott’s night at your local venue.

I may make a trip to Prague as well, and if you haven’t been you may want to tag along. It’s a truly magnificent city and one of the cleanest and most well preserved in all of Europe. I hope you’re doing as well as I am. I’m doing much better now that the Orange Pathogen has been flushed out of the White House.
