Ready for a change of scenery, I left the bland, grey city of San Jose, Costa Rica, and braved two planes, two airports, four taxis, and a Houston hotel before arriving at my new destination. Filled with color and character San Miguel immediately filled me with a sense of relief that I had made a good decision about where I would be spending my next six months.
Equipped with a face-shield and an N-95 mask, I felt confident that I would make it to my destination COVID-Free.
