USA: San Diego

Well, it’s official, I have the cutest granddaughter ever. Mia has taken quite a shine to me as well, and we had our first solo outing at Ralph’s supermarket while her mom got a prenatal massage next door. At the checkout, Mia spotted an enormous Thanksgiving Turkey balloon and was enthralled by its beckoning charms. It’s been three days now, and she still tows it all over the house with her. It was clearly a sound investment with solid returns in smiles, giggling and the whole household’s own ongoing amusement.

Waiting with Mr. Turkey for mommy to finish her massage.

I think grandchildren make growing older a tolerable endeavor. It’s like having children, but only the fun parts, making it the best thing that’s happened to me in years, and I’m the guy who gets to travel the world no less! The pure joy of her is infectious, and you find yourself completely in the moment as she finds wonder in everyday things. There is nothing like seeing the world through the eyes of a child, especially a happy one such as this.

Meechka mans her daddy’s computer station.

Enjoying a frozen yogurt.

Getting pushed in the swing by grandpa.

Or just trying on grandpa’s giant shoes.

Good to hear from you Christian. I have been a little lazy with the blog, but that will change once I get traveling again. I’ve got a great itinerary this year so the adventures will be plentiful.

I’m just not looking forward to the crowds, poverty and the stench of feces in India, but that should wash off with all the scuba diving I’ll be doing in the South Pacific.

I’ll also get some nice Christmas shots of my daughter and granddaughter while I’m here in San Diego which I think is one of the most bland places on the face of the Earth. The weather is great if you like sunshine all the time, but the more I travel, the blander it gets here.

Feliz Navidad y prospero Año Nuevo.
